Gujarat saw more than 15,000 candidates appear for the NEET PG 2026 postgraduate medical entrance exam at around 50 centres across the state, up from roughly 13,900 candidates last year. Ahmedabad alone hosted the exam across 16 centres, each equipped to handle between 100 and 250 candidates.
Stricter checks against malpractice
This years exam saw tighter security aimed at preventing malpractice and impersonation by dummy candidates, with authorities using Aadhaar-based authentication alongside biometric verification before allowing candidates into exam halls.
A few candidates missed their slot
Not everyone made it in time: at one Ahmedabad centre, three candidates, two travelling from Botad and one from Junagadh, arrived after the entry cutoff and were unable to sit for the exam.
Why NEET PG matters
NEET PG is Indias sole national-level entrance exam for postgraduate medical study after MBBS, conducted by the National Board of Examinations. A qualifying rank allows candidates merit-based admission to MD, MS and DNB courses at government and private medical colleges across the country.
