Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated 103 newly redeveloped railway stations across 86 districts in 18 states and union territories on Thursday, marking a significant milestone under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The virtual ceremony was conducted from Bikaner, Rajasthan, shortly after the Prime Minister offered prayers at the revered Karni Mata Temple and visited the redeveloped Deshnoke railway station—one of the 103 modernised stations.
The large-scale redevelopment has been carried out with an investment of approximately ₹26,000 crore. The aim of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is to transform railway stations into integrated and modern transport hubs, offering enhanced amenities and better connectivity for passengers.
Gujarat stands out with 18 stations included in the latest phase of redevelopment. These upgraded stations are: Samakhiali, Morbi, Hapa, Jamnagar, Vanthali, Kanalus, Okha, Mithapur, Rajula, Sihor, Palitana, Mahuva, Jamnagar Jodhpur, Limbdi, Derol, Karamsad, Utran, Kosamba, and Dakor. These stations are now equipped with improved infrastructure and facilities designed to enhance the overall travel experience.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving the nation’s railway infrastructure and passenger experience while boosting economic and regional development through enhanced connectivity.
