Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin a two-day visit to his home state, Gujarat, on May 26, 2025, marking his first visit to the state following Operation Sindoor.
During the visit, PM Modi is expected to launch and inaugurate multiple infrastructure and development projects across Dahod, Bhuj, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad, collectively valued at over ₹82,000 crore. The visit will feature roadshows, public addresses, and several landmark project unveilings.
Day 1: May 26, 2025
Dahod: Flagship Railway Manufacturing Facility to be Inaugurated
PM Modi will kickstart his tour by inaugurating an advanced locomotive manufacturing plant in Dahod. This facility will produce 9,000-horsepower electric locomotives designed for both domestic operations and exports. The locomotives will feature energy-efficient regenerative braking systems and align with the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The Prime Minister will also flag off an electric locomotive from this newly built facility, marking a significant step in India’s green transportation push.
Rail Connectivity Boost
In a major push to modernize railway infrastructure, PM Modi will also flag off:
- Veraval–Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express: This semi-high-speed train will strengthen connectivity between Ahmedabad and the pilgrimage city of Veraval, home to the Somnath temple.
- Valsad–Dahod Express: A new daily express train service aimed at enhancing regional accessibility.
Additionally, he will inaugurate the gauge-converted Katosan–Kalol railway section and launch freight operations on this upgraded route.
Bhuj: Mega Projects Worth ₹53,400 Crore to be Launched
Later in the day, Modi will arrive in Bhuj, where he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate projects across the power, water, and infrastructure sectors. These include:
- Transmission systems for the Khavda Renewable Energy Park
- Expansion of the power grid for renewable integration
- An ultra supercritical thermal power unit at Tapi
- Group water supply schemes across Kutch, Jamnagar, Gir Somnath, and more
PM Modi will also address a public meeting in Bhuj to outline the impact and scope of these initiatives.
Public Interactions and Roadshows
The day will conclude with vibrant roadshows in Vadodara and Ahmedabad, where large crowds are expected to line the streets in support of the Prime Minister.
Day 2: May 27, 2025
Celebrating 20 Years of Gujarat’s Urban Growth
On Tuesday, PM Modi will participate in a grand event in Gandhinagar, celebrating 20 years of Gujarat’s Urban Growth Story—an initiative that he launched in 2005 during his tenure as Chief Minister.
To mark the milestone, Modi will unveil the Urban Development Year 2025, a renewed roadmap aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure, governance, health, sanitation, and sustainability across Gujarat’s cities.
At the event, he is expected to:
- Launch the State Clean Air Programme
- Inaugurate and lay the foundation for projects related to urban development, public health, and water supply
- Address a gathering of government officials, industry leaders, and citizens
