A major accident occurred last night in Ahmedabad’s Vatva area during the construction of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project. A massive crane being used for the project suddenly collapsed, injuring two workers. Local police and officials from the bullet train project quickly arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.
According to available information, the crane, which was being used to place girders on the bullet train pillars, unexpectedly collapsed. This caused damage to a nearby railway track, disrupting the movement of several trains on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. Efforts to remove the crane debris from the railway track were promptly started to restore normal train services.
This bullet train project is one of India’s most ambitious infrastructure initiatives, aiming to reduce the travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to just two hours. The incident has temporarily affected rail traffic, with at least 25 trains cancelled and several others delayed or diverted due to the disruption caused by the accident.
